| Unit | Example (Born June 15, 1995) | How It Is Calculated |
|---|---|---|
| Years | 30 | Complete calendar years since birth |
| Months | 9 | Remaining months after full years |
| Days | 20 | Remaining days after full months |
| Total Days | ~11,252 | Every single day from birth to today |
| Hours | ~270,048 | Total days x 24 |
| Minutes | ~16,202,880 | Total hours x 60 |
The Korean age trap. In traditional Korean age counting, you are 1 at birth and gain a year every January 1 — not on your birthday. Someone born December 31 is "2 years old" the next day in Korean age but 1 day old everywhere else. South Korea officially switched to international age in June 2023.
The leap year birthday. Born February 29? You only get a "real" birthday every 4 years, but you still age normally. Most legal systems count March 1 as your birthday in non-leap years. The age calculator handles this correctly regardless.
The "off by one" error. If you were born on April 4, 1996, you are 30 years old today (April 4, 2026) — not 29. The day of your birthday counts as the start of your new age year. People often miscount when the birthday is today.
