How strong are these passwords?

A 20-character password using uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols has approximately 130 bits of entropy. For comparison, it would take a modern supercomputer billions of years to brute-force crack it. Even a 12-character password with all character types is extremely strong. The default 20 characters is more than sufficient for any account.

Are these passwords truly random?

Yes. This tool uses the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues), which is a cryptographically secure random number generator built into your browser. It's the same randomness source used by professional password managers and security software. It is not pseudo-random — it draws from your operating system's entropy source.

Should I use this instead of a password manager?

Use both. Generate a password here, then store it in your password manager (1Password, Bitwarden, LastPass, or Apple Keychain). A password manager remembers passwords for you; this tool generates passwords that are actually worth remembering. Never reuse passwords across sites — generate a unique one for each account.
