Pace = Time / Distance. If you run 3 miles in 24 minutes, your pace is 8:00 per mile (24/3 = 8 minutes per mile). Pace is expressed as minutes:seconds per mile or per kilometer.
It depends on your fitness level. For beginners, 10-12 min/mile is normal. Intermediate runners average 8-10 min/mile. Advanced runners hit 6-8 min/mile. Elite marathoners run under 5 min/mile. Any pace that keeps you running consistently is a good pace.
Speed (mph) = 60 / pace (min/mile). For example, an 8:00/mile pace = 60/8 = 7.5 mph. For km: Speed (kph) = 60 / pace (min/km).
The predictions assume you maintain the same pace for the entire distance. In reality, pace naturally slows over longer distances. Add 5-10% to the predicted time for races longer than your training distance for a more realistic estimate.
