If you have already downloaded a TikTok, Instagram Reel, Facebook video, or any other social media clip to your device, you can extract the audio as an MP3 free in under 30 seconds. WildandFree's audio extractor takes any local video file and outputs a clean MP3 or WAV — no upload, no account, no watermark on the audio.
Note: this tool works with video files saved to your device. It does not download from URLs or directly connect to social media platforms.
Step 1 — Download the Social Media Video to Your Device
Before extracting audio, you need the video file saved locally. Here is how to get it for each platform:
TikTok: Tap the Share button on any video, then tap "Save Video." TikTok saves the video to your camera roll as an MP4 (some videos save without sound if the creator disabled downloads — this is a TikTok setting, not our limitation).
Instagram Reels: Instagram does not have a native download button for Reels in most regions. Use a third-party downloader or screen record the Reel, then proceed to extract audio from that file.
Facebook: On desktop, right-click the video and choose "Save video as." On mobile, use a third-party downloader or screen record.
Twitter/X: Right-click videos on desktop and choose "Save video as." On mobile, use a third-party downloader.
YouTube: You can download YouTube videos via YouTube Premium, or use a local screen recording if you need the audio from a specific video you have permission to use.
Step 2 — Extract the Audio from Your Downloaded Video
Once you have the video file on your device:
- Go to wildandfreetools.com/video-tools/video-to-mp3/
- Drop the video file or tap to select it from your camera roll / files
- Select MP3 (or WAV for uncompressed audio)
- Click Extract Audio and download the MP3
The MP3 will contain the audio track from the video — including any background music. If you want isolated vocals or music, you would need a separate stem-separation tool, which is a different category of software.
Sell Custom Apparel — We Handle Printing & Free ShippingWhat People Use Social Media Audio For
- Save a trending sound — extract audio from a TikTok to use the sound in your own content (respecting creator rights)
- Identify a song — extract the audio and run it through a music identification app
- Repurpose your own content — if you posted a video of yourself, extract the audio to share separately as a voice clip or audio snippet
- Archive a memorable clip — keep the audio from a live event or memorable moment in a smaller, portable format
- Use in a podcast or project — with proper permission or for fair-use commentary purposes
Always respect copyright when using audio extracted from social media. Creating personal archives is generally fine; redistributing or building commercial projects on extracted audio without permission is not.
Do TikTok-Saved Videos Have Audio Watermarks?
No. Unlike video watermarks, TikTok does not embed an audible watermark in the audio track of downloaded videos. The TikTok watermark is visual (the @username overlay on the video), not audio.
When you extract the audio from a TikTok-downloaded MP4, you get the raw audio track: the original sound and music without any TikTok branding in the audio itself. The visual watermark disappears when you extract just the audio.
Our extraction tool also adds no watermark to the audio output — the MP3 you download is clean. See Video to MP3 Free — No Signup, No Limits for more on what the tool does and does not add to outputs.

Extract Audio FreeFrequently Asked Questions
Can I extract audio from an Instagram Reel that I screen recorded?
Yes. Screen recordings save as MP4 or MOV files. The browser tool extracts audio from any of these formats the same way. The audio quality depends on what your device captured during the screen recording.
Why does my TikTok download have no sound?
Some TikTok creators disable the "Save Video" option for their content, or TikTok's licensing agreements with music rights holders prevent saving videos with certain songs. If a downloaded TikTok has no audio, the restriction was on the download itself — not something the extraction tool can work around.
Will this work on videos I downloaded from YouTube via a screen recorder?
Yes. A screen recording of a YouTube video saves as a standard video file (MP4 or MOV). The browser tool extracts the audio from it normally. Note that screen recordings capture system audio quality rather than the original file quality.
Is it legal to extract audio from social media videos?
For personal use and archiving, extracting audio from videos you have legitimate access to is generally considered acceptable. Redistributing extracted audio commercially or building products on it without permission raises copyright concerns. When in doubt, use only content you own or have explicit permission to use.
