Create an E-Signature With Transparent Background — Free Tool

Last updated: April 20264 min readPDF Tools

Your signature photo has a white box when placed on a PDF. Here's how to make it transparent — or better yet, create a clean digital signature that's transparent by default.

Option 1: Draw a Digital Signature (Fastest)

The simplest solution — digital signatures are transparent by default:

  1. Open the free PDF signer
  2. Upload your PDF
  3. Draw your signature with your mouse or finger
  4. Place it on the document — it overlays cleanly with no white box

Done. No background removal needed because the signature was created digitally.

Option 2: Use Your Handwritten Signature (Photo)

If you want your actual handwritten signature on digital documents:

  1. Sign on white paper with a dark pen (black Sharpie works best)
  2. Take a clear photo in good lighting — avoid shadows
  3. Remove the background: Use the AI background remover to make the white transparent
  4. Download as PNG (PNG supports transparency, JPG does not)
  5. Use the PNG as your signature image when signing PDFs

Sign PDFs with a transparent signature. Draw or upload.
