Compress GIF files by reducing colors, frame rate, and dimensions — no upload, no watermark, completely free. Drop your GIF, adjust the settings, and download an optimized version. Unlike Ezgif or GIPHY, your files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser using FFmpeg WebAssembly. For the ultimate size reduction, consider converting to MP4 with our GIF to Video tool — MP4 files are 90% smaller than GIFs.

How do I compress a GIF?

Drop your GIF, choose your compression level (fewer colors, lower FPS, and/or smaller width), and click Compress. The optimized GIF downloads instantly. Default settings (128 colors, 12 FPS, 480px width) usually provide a good balance of quality and size reduction.

How much smaller will my GIF be?

Depends on the settings and original GIF. Reducing colors to 128 saves 20-40%. Lowering FPS to 10 saves another 20-30%. Reducing width to 320px can save 50-70%. Combined, 60-80% reduction is common. For maximum savings, convert to MP4 instead — it's 90% smaller.

Will compression ruin the quality?

At 128 colors, most GIFs look nearly identical to the original. At 64 colors, you may notice slight banding in smooth gradients. FPS below 10 can make animation look choppy. The default settings are tuned for minimal visible quality loss.

Is my GIF uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser using FFmpeg WebAssembly. Your files stay on your device — completely private.
