How does speech to text work in the browser?

This tool uses the Web Speech Recognition API built into Chrome, Edge, and Safari. When you click Start Listening, your browser accesses your microphone and converts spoken words to text in real time. No audio is uploaded to any third-party server.

Which browsers support speech to text?

Speech recognition works in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Safari. Firefox does not yet support the Web Speech API. For best results, use the latest version of Chrome or Edge on desktop.

What languages are supported?

This tool supports 12 languages: English (US and UK), Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin), Korean, Hindi, and Arabic. Select your language from the dropdown before starting.

Is my audio recorded or stored?
