Every photo you take with a smartphone or digital camera contains hidden EXIF metadata: GPS coordinates that pinpoint where the photo was taken, your camera make and model, timestamps, lens info, and sometimes even your name. Before sharing photos online, on social media, or via email, strip this metadata to protect your privacy. This EXIF Stripper runs 100% in your browser -- your images are never uploaded anywhere. One click removes everything.

Why should I strip metadata from photos before sharing?

Photos taken with smartphones and cameras embed hidden EXIF metadata including GPS coordinates, device model, serial numbers, timestamps, and even your name. When you share these photos online or via email, anyone can extract this data to find your home address, daily routine, or the exact camera you own. Journalists, activists, and anyone sharing photos publicly should strip metadata first. Social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram remove some EXIF data on upload, but not all platforms do -- and emailing or uploading to forums leaves it fully intact.

What metadata gets removed by the EXIF stripper?

The stripper removes ALL EXIF data embedded in your JPEG images: GPS coordinates (latitude, longitude, altitude), camera make and model, lens info, serial numbers, date and time the photo was taken, software used to edit it, thumbnail images, copyright fields, orientation data, exposure settings (ISO, aperture, shutter speed), and any other IFD tags. After stripping, the image contains zero metadata bytes. The tool uses piexifjs to parse and remove EXIF data without re-encoding the image pixels, so your photo quality stays identical.

Is it safe to strip EXIF data from my photos?

Yes. Stripping EXIF data only removes the metadata tags -- it does not modify the actual image pixels, so your photo quality stays identical. The tool runs 100% in your browser using JavaScript. Your images are never uploaded to any server. The original file is untouched; you download a new clean copy. The only thing you lose is the hidden metadata, which is exactly the point. This is the same process professional photographers use before delivering client files or publishing online.
