"Visiting card" and "business card" describe the same thing — in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and parts of Europe, "visiting card" is the common term for the small printed cards exchanged at professional meetings. This scanner works identically for both — upload a photo of a visiting card and extract the contact information in seconds.
How to Scan a Visiting Card Online
- Open the free scanner in your browser (link below)
- Take a clear photo of the visiting card with your phone or use an existing scan
- Upload the photo — JPG, PNG, WebP, and BMP are all accepted
- Click "Scan Card" — the OCR engine reads the text and extracts name, title, company, phone, email, website, and address
- Copy the contact information to your phone's Contacts app, WhatsApp, or your CRM
The tool works for visiting cards in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, and Chinese (Simplified).
International Visiting Card Formats
Visiting cards from different countries have different layout conventions:
- India: Often include multiple phone numbers (mobile, office, landline), local address formats, and sometimes graduate degree titles before the name
- Japan: Typically include both Japanese characters and romanized name; company name may appear before personal name; bilingual cards are common
- Middle East: Arabic script cards require Arabic OCR support — the current scanner supports Latin, Japanese, and Chinese scripts but not Arabic
- Europe: Country-specific phone formats (+44, +49, etc.); the scanner handles international dialing codes
For cards in scripts not yet supported (Arabic, Hindi Devanagari, Korean, Cyrillic), the raw OCR text may have errors — use it as a starting point and correct manually.

After scanning a visiting card, a common next step in India and Southeast Asia is adding the contact to WhatsApp. Process:
- Scan the card and copy the phone number from the scanner
- Add the number to your phone's Contacts app (this is required for WhatsApp to show them)
- Open WhatsApp — the contact appears automatically once their number is in your Contacts
- Send a follow-up message while the meeting is fresh
For contacts using WhatsApp Business numbers (ending in different digits than their personal number), check the card for any WhatsApp icon or designation.

Does the visiting card scanner work for cards in Hindi or Tamil?
The current scanner supports Latin-script languages, Japanese, and Chinese (Simplified). Cards in Devanagari (Hindi), Tamil, Arabic, or other non-supported scripts will not be read accurately. For these, use Google Lens or a specialized OCR tool for that script.
What is the difference between a visiting card and a business card?
They are the same physical item — a small printed card with contact information. "Visiting card" is the more common term in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and parts of Europe. "Business card" is more common in North America and Western Europe. The same scanner handles both.
