Text Logo Maker — Free, Transparent PNG Download, No Signup

Last updated: April 20268 min readDesign Tools

Most businesses start with a text logo. Google is a text logo. FedEx is a text logo. Coca-Cola, Visa, CNN, Netflix — all text. A text-based logo is not a "starter" logo. It's a legitimate design choice used by the biggest brands on the planet.

The problem is that logo maker tools either charge you for the download, slap a watermark on it, or force you to create an account. Here's how to make a text logo in about 90 seconds with none of that.

How to Make a Text Logo (Step by Step)

  1. Open the Text Designer in your browser.
  2. Type your brand name. If you have a tagline, add it on a second line.
  3. Choose a font. This is the most important decision. Each font has a personality:
    • Modern & clean: Montserrat, Raleway, Oswald
    • Bold & strong: Anton, Bebas Neue, Archivo Black, Russo One
    • Elegant & upscale: Playfair Display
    • Handwritten & casual: Sacramento, Pacifico, Permanent Marker
    • Techy & futuristic: Orbitron, Staatliches, Teko
    • Fun & playful: Bangers, Righteous, Black Ops One
  4. Adjust letter spacing. Wider spacing = more premium feel. Tighter spacing = more compact energy. This single adjustment makes text look "designed" instead of "typed."
  5. Add one effect (optional): A subtle gradient, a thin outline, or a light shadow. Don't stack multiple effects on a logo — simplicity wins.
  6. Download as transparent PNG. High resolution, no watermark.

Text Logo Design: What Actually Matters

Font choice is 80% of a text logo

Most people skip past the font and go straight to effects. That's backwards. The right font at the right spacing with zero effects will look better than the wrong font with a gradient, shadow, and outline stacked on top of it.

Spend most of your time trying different fonts. The tool has 17 options — try at least 5 or 6 before you decide. You'll feel which one "clicks" for your brand.

Letter spacing changes everything

Take any font, type a word, and increase the letter spacing by 20-30%. The text immediately looks more intentional, more "designed." This is why luxury brands use wide spacing — it signals that every detail was considered. Tighter spacing works for energetic, fast-moving brands.

Two lines = brand name + tagline

If you have a tagline or subtitle, put it on a second line with a different font, smaller size, or lighter weight. The tool lets you style each line independently. A common pattern: bold display font for the name, clean sans-serif for the tagline underneath.

Common Text Logo Mistakes

Too many effects

A gradient AND shadow AND outline AND curve all on a logo makes it look like a video game title, not a business. Pick one effect or none. Apple's logo text uses zero effects. Spotify uses zero effects. The font and color do the work.

Wrong font personality

A law firm in Bangers font says "we don't take anything seriously." A skateboard brand in Playfair Display says "we've never been outside." Match the font energy to your business energy.

Tiny letter spacing on display fonts

Bold display fonts (Anton, Bebas Neue, Archivo Black) look cramped at default spacing. Open them up. Even a small increase in letter spacing gives them room to breathe.

After You Download: Where to Use It

The transparent PNG works everywhere:

Because it's a transparent PNG, it layers cleanly over any background without a white rectangle around it. Want to see more about transparent text images? Check our transparent text PNG guide.
