Both Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook support displaying multiple time zones in their day and week views. If you regularly work with colleagues in different cities, seeing two or three time zone columns alongside your calendar is far more efficient than mentally converting times every day. This guide walks through the settings for both apps and explains when a standalone free time zone converter is the faster option.

Google Calendar — How to Add a Second (and Third) Time Zone

In Google Calendar on desktop:

  1. Click the gear icon → Settings
  2. In the left sidebar, click GeneralTime zone
  3. Check "Display secondary time zone" and select your second zone from the dropdown
  4. For a third zone: check "Display additional time zones" (only available in the newer Settings layout)

Once set, the day and week views show two thin time columns on the left side of the calendar. Each hour line shows both your primary and secondary time at a glance. You can also label them (e.g., "NYC" and "London") so they are easy to read quickly.

Outlook — How to Add a Secondary Time Zone

In Outlook desktop app (Windows):

  1. Go to File → Options → Calendar
  2. Scroll to Time zones
  3. Check "Show a second time zone" and select the zone from the dropdown
  4. Add labels to both zones for clarity
  5. Click OK

Outlook Web (OWA) also supports this: go to Settings → View all Outlook settings → Calendar → View → and configure additional time zones from there.

Outlook supports displaying up to 3 time zones in total in the calendar pane.

When a Standalone Converter Beats Calendar Settings

Calendar time zone columns are great for ongoing daily context — you glance left and see it is 2 PM in London while it is 9 AM in New York. But they have limitations:

For quick one-off conversions, ad hoc scheduling, or comparing zones you do not have configured, the timezone converter is faster than opening calendar settings. Enter any time, select the zones, and see the converted result in 5 seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Google Calendar show 3 time zones at once?

Yes, newer versions of Google Calendar support displaying up to 3 time zones in the calendar view. Go to Settings → General → Time zone and look for the "Display additional time zones" option.

Does Outlook Mobile support multiple time zones?

Outlook Mobile does not display multiple time zone columns in the calendar view. You can see individual event times in your primary time zone. For multi-zone visibility on mobile, use a standalone time zone converter app or website.

What is the easiest way to see what time it is in multiple cities right now?

The timezone converter's World Clock shows current times in 10 major cities simultaneously: New York, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Dubai, Mumbai, Tokyo, and Sydney.
