What is the difference between A4 and Letter?

A4 is 210mm × 297mm (8.27" × 11.69") — the international ISO standard. US Letter is 8.5" × 11" (216mm × 279mm). A4 is slightly narrower and taller. Documents created in one format may have printing issues on the other.
