When Built-In Is Enough

If you are on a Mac, the built-in emoji picker (Ctrl+Cmd+Space) is genuinely excellent. It has solid search, category browsing, frequently used tracking, and skin tone options. Most Mac users never need a separate tool.

On Windows 11, the picker has improved significantly over Windows 10 — better search, cleaner design, and GIF support. For quick emoji insertion, it works well.

• Mac: In the emoji picker, click the top-right icon to expand to the full Character Viewer — it shows every symbol, not just emojis. Useful for arrows, math symbols, and special characters.
• Windows: The Win+. picker also has a clipboard history tab and kaomoji (Japanese text emoticons). Explore the tabs.
