Looking for a chart maker app for iPad? You probably don't need an app. The CSV to chart tool runs directly in mobile Safari or Chrome — no download, no App Store, no account. Upload a CSV, make a chart, save the PNG to your Camera Roll or Files app.

Creating a Chart in Mobile Safari on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Safari and navigate to the CSV to Chart tool.
  2. Tap "Upload File" — the file picker opens. Navigate to your CSV file in the Files app. If you have your data in Numbers, export it as CSV first: tap the three-dot menu in Numbers > Export > CSV.
  3. Or use Paste Data. If you have your data in a spreadsheet app, copy the cells, tap the Paste Data tab, and paste directly.
  4. Select your columns. Tap the X-axis dropdown, choose your category or time column. Tap the Y-axis checkbox for your value column.
  5. Pick a chart type. Tap the Chart Type dropdown and select Bar, Line, Pie, or whichever fits your data.
  6. Tap Download PNG. The chart saves to your Downloads folder in the Files app, or you can share directly from the browser.

The tool is fully touch-compatible. All dropdowns, checkboxes, and buttons work with tap interactions on iPhone and iPad screens.

Creating a Chart on Android Phones

The same process works in Chrome on Android:

  1. Open Chrome and navigate to the chart tool
  2. Tap the Upload File area to select a CSV from your device storage
  3. If your data is in Google Sheets, export it: tap File > Download > Comma-separated values. The file saves to your Downloads folder
  4. Select the CSV file when the file picker opens in the chart tool
  5. Configure your columns and chart type
  6. Tap Download PNG — the file saves to your Downloads folder

The tool does not require any Android-specific permissions beyond file access, which Chrome requests automatically when you choose a file.

Getting CSV Data on Your Phone

The most common question for mobile chart creation: "How do I get my data into a CSV on my phone?"

From Numbers (iOS): Tap the three-dot menu at the top right > Export > CSV. Saves to Files.

From Google Sheets (iOS or Android): Tap the three-dot menu > Share and export > Download > Comma-separated values (.csv). Saves to Downloads or Files.

From Excel Mobile: File > Save a Copy > This Device > choose CSV format.

Typing directly: If your dataset is small (under 20 rows), just type it into the Paste Data tab. Format: header row first, then one row per data point, values separated by commas.

From an email attachment: If someone sent you a CSV file via email, tap the attachment to open it, then use the share button to copy to Files. Then select it in the chart tool's file picker.

Saving and Sharing the Chart From Your Phone

Once you tap Download PNG on mobile:

On iPhone/iPad: The file goes to your Downloads folder in the Files app. To add it to your Camera Roll, open Files, find the PNG, tap the share icon, choose Save Image. Now it's in your Photos app.

Sharing directly: Before downloading, press and hold the chart image in the browser. A menu appears with options to save, copy, or share the image. On iPhone, this lets you AirDrop, save to Files, or share via Messages.

On Android: The PNG saves to your Downloads folder. Open Files or Gallery app to find it, then share via any app.

To add to a document or presentation: Open Google Slides or Pages, tap Insert > Image > From Files, and select the chart PNG. Works the same as inserting any photo.

Why You Don't Need a Chart App

App Store searches for "chart maker" return dozens of apps, most of which require a subscription, show watermarks on free exports, or limit chart types without paying.

The browser-based approach has three advantages over chart apps:

The limitation: browser tools don't integrate as deeply with your device as a native app. If you need the chart to auto-update with live data or integrate with iCloud in real-time, a native app makes sense. For making charts from CSV data and downloading a PNG, the browser handles it perfectly.
